A trip to Palestine was co-arranged between the JAI and its partner Danish Nørre Nissum Efterskole for their 34 Global Teenagers students, with accompanying teachers, between the 14th and 22nd of March 2016.
Their trip included sessions and days and meetings with JAI-trained Palestinian students, who hosted them at their schools, homes, and planted olive trees together. They had also games and sport activities together, discussed the Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions (BDS) campaign together and what would the Danish students o in their country to support Palestine and contribute in ending occupation injustice.
Guided tours were arranged in Bethlehem, Hebron and Jerusalem to witness the various Israeli occupation measures on the group including settlements, wall, bypass road, house demolition, closures, checkpoints..etc. This is beside tours in the refugee camp, Jerusalem old city, Church of Nativity.
The programs in Palestine comes after a week visit of two JAI-trained Palestinian students with a JAI staff to the Danish school in November-December 2015, where they shared their stories and experience of life under occupation. The trip also comes as part of an ongoing students’ exchange program, in cooperation with the DanChurch Aid (DCA). In turn, DCA has organized an advocacy session in Jerusalem for the students for future plans, actions and activities they could do in Denmark related to Palestine and Israel.
