As part fo the student exchange programs the JAI has with partner Danish schools, a JAI stuff member with 2 JAI-trained students visited Denmark and spent one week with the Danish student at Nørre Nissum Efterskole, from the 26th of November to the 3rd of December 2015.
The week included lectures about Palestine and the life under occupation, where the Palestinian students shared their daily life experiences and stories with the Danish students to help them further understand the various aspects of the Israeli occupation and how they live and see the tough reality as teenagers. After lectures, there were discussions among the students about the differences in their lives and how they can manage to support each others in the future and build good friendships.
Muhanad Al-Qaisy the JAI' Olive tree Campaign officer, who joined the students, gave also some lectures about JAI and the Olive Tree Campaign, in order to explain to the Danish students about the importance of the olive trees in Palestine, and how Palestinians use it as a peaceful resistance method. Danish students got more information about the Palestinian conflict in general and some historical facts.
The Palestinian students also lectures more than 150 Danish students at another public school nearby, where the Danish students reacted with what they have heard, and the Palestinian students answered so many questions about their daily life and sufferring.
In the middle of the visit, the Palestinian students were invited by Danish families for home staying and they spent the weekend out of the school with the families. The students enjoyed their visit to the families and they spent a good time talking about life and enjoying the different life style.
In March 2016, the JAI will organize a 7-8 day program in Palestine for the Global Teenagers class of Nørre Nissum Efterskole, where the trip will include meeting mroe Palestinian students, plant olive trees together. Then those students will be working on fundraising for the Olive Tree Campaign.
