During summer 2013, the JAI has worked on training and preparing a group of the 11th grade students from two Palestinian schools.
As part of a continuous and new developed students' exchange partnerships with two Eftrskoles in Denmark, linked through DanChurch Aid, namely the Nørre Nissum Efterskole and Dronninglund Efterskole, a group of 2 boys and 2 girls, accompanied by the JAI youth program coordinator paid an 8-day visit to the two school from the 6th to the 13th of November 2013.
Ahd and Sama, from the Rum Catholic School in Beit Sahour, went to Dronninglund; while Michael and Marah, from the Rum Orthodox School in Beit Sahour, went to the Nørre Nissum Efterskole. The students had icebreaking session and games among each other, Palestinians students introduced to the Danish schools and gave several presentations and discussions and Palestine and advocacy work and campaign run by the JAI. They have joined the Global Teenagers group in their classes, sports activities, exercises, games, fun times and sub-groups chatting. Each of the 2 students also visited 3 public schools around each Efterckole, made presentation about Palestinian culture and life under occupation.
The Palestinians students spent an evening and stayed overnight with families of Danish students during a weekend, where they experience a Danish family life.
An activity was organized in each school as fund raising for the Olive Tree Campaign, where the Danish and Palestinian students organized and joined.
Those Global Teenagers from the two Danish Efterskoles are to come to Palestine in February and March 2014 respectively, in programs organized and hosted by the JAI, where each will visit the respective Palestinian school of the students visited them, and have several sessions with the whole classes’ Palestinian students.
The JAI Youth Program Coordinator, spent some days in each school, joined the activities and presentation, and during the weekend she had meetings, together with the Palestinian students, with representatives of DanChurch Aid, the Danish YMCA-YWCA international committee and the Palestine Network, where they gave and discussed some updates on the situation nowadays in Palestine.
