Mashhur Hamamra is a 60-year old farmer, who, together with his 9 family members, owns four dunums of land (1 dunum = 1000 m2) in the area of Al-Knesa in Husan village, west of Bethlehem.
His land is enclosed by the Israeli settlement Beitar Illit, which was constructed just 50 meters off his land, and a bypass road for settlers just 100 meters away from it, and is thus threatened by confiscation.
In 2011, Israeli settlers attacked Mashhur’s field and uprooted olive trees, planning to confiscate it to expand the Beitar Illit settlement.
In February 2017, the Olive Tree Campaign supported Mashhur and his family with 80 sponsored olive trees and thus helped them to keep their land and protect it.
