The JAI recently organized four workshops as part of its "Supporting and Enhancing Farmers' Steadfastness" project, supported by our Dutch partner Plant een Olijfboom. The project aims to develop the economic steadfastness of farmers in 'Area C' across ten villages in the Bethlehem and north Hebron regions.
These workshops were held in Bethlehem on September 12th and 13th, and in north Hebron on September 17th and 18th, 2024.
Attended by around 90 participants, including farmers, representatives, and activists, the workshops aimed to raise awareness and empower attendees by providing guidance throughout the planting stages. Topics covered included planting techniques and timing, disease prevention and management, marketing strategies, and legal issues. The latter focused on helping farmers respond to Israeli military orders, closure decisions, restrictions, and land registration matters.
Partner organizations played a key role in facilitating the workshops and providing information. These included the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, the NRC - Norwegian Refugee Council, and the Land Research Center. Representatives from the councils of the ten villages also participated.
