This program works for the information, education and mobilization of Palestinian youth and works with them for launching different campaigns and initiatives, using different tools, and executing different activities to raise awareness and become advocates for Just Peace.

Workshop between JAI and DanChurch Aid youth groups

A joint workshops between the JAI Youth for Peace and Development and DanChurch Aid Youth Group were held on the 17th and 18th of February 2012, with the participation of 14 Danish and 11 Palestinians at the YMCA building in Beit Sahour.

The first day it was an orientation on the JAI work with youth and about the DCA youth group work, with discussion on a campaign that the Danish youth group wants to launch in Denmark about Palestine to advocate for the Palestinian cause. Then both groups went for a dinner to bond on a personal level.

The second day workshop was from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, where the participants were distributed among 3 working groups: the first group discussed the importance of the partnership between both youth groups and the campaign in Denmark, the second group discussed ways in which both groups will communicate andi nteract (website, blogs, facebook, youtube), and the third group discuses the working process of the campaign and ways of fund raising.

At the end of the workshop the participants put a time line for working together and dates to start working on the campaign.

 

JAI trains Palestinian school students for a students' exchange

The YMCA-YWCA Joint Advocacy Initiative has arranged a student training program in cooperation with the Rum Catholic and Rum Orthodox schools in Beit Sahour, as part of a students exchange program the JAI has with Danish Efterckolen. The training took place during July – August 2013 for 20 students of the 10th from both schools to enrich their information regarding the Palestinian cause and develop their advocacy skills.

The training included the themes of citizenship and belonging, Kairos Palestine, BDS campaign and normalization, history of the Palestinian cause and the conflict, as well as guided tours to witness the wall, settlements, refugee camps, which allow the students to represent their country and cause nationally and internationally.

The JAI selects some of the trained students to visit the JAI partner Danish schools in November, while the whole students and both classes are to join the Danish students' programs in Palestine during March 2014.
