World Alliance of YMCAs

WAY LogoThe World Alliance of Young Men Christian Associations (YMCAs) is a world-wide Christian, ecumenical, voluntary Movement for women and men with special emphasis on, and the genuine involvement of, young people, which seeks to share the Christian ideal of building a human community of justice with love, peace and reconciliation for the fullness of life for all creation.

YMCAs work for social justice for all people, irrespective of religion, race, gender or cultural background.

As World body of the YMCAs , the World Alliance promote the following aspects in the Israel/Palestine conflict:

  • To listen, monitor and respond to the realities as expressed by our brothers and sisters in the YMCAs in Palestine and Israel;

  • To conduct national and international campaigns to mobilize financial and technical assistance to strengthen the capacity and programs of the YMCAs in Palestine and Israel;

  • To support the YMCAs in Palestine and Israel to be rallying points within their own constituencies in developing viable civil societies and democratic states.

The YMCA-YWCA Joint Advocacy Initiative, through the East Jerusalem YMCA and partner and friends YMCA movements, works through, within and with the World Alliance to prompt advocacy positions, actions and programs, related to the Palestinians cause, at the member movements and regional alliances.
