37 students and 4 teachers from partner Danish schools' trip in Palestine

nne2018 2tA program in Palestine was organized for 37 students and 4 teachers of the Global Teenagers class of our partner Danish Nørre Nissum Efterskole (NNE), from the 19th to the 27th of March 2018.

The program included ice-breaking, games and sport activities with the JAI-trained Palestinian students (from Beit Sahour Lutheran School, Dar-Salah village Girls Public School, and Shorouq Center in Dhaisha Refugee Camp), planted sponsored olive trees together at a threatened Palestinian field in Al-Khader / Battir village, south-west of Bethlehem, and visits of the Danish students for few hours to the Palestinian students families and homes. In one of the morning, the Danish students visited Dar-Salah Girls Public School, who welcomes them with scout march and chants, the administration team and had mutual presentation with the 11th grade students, who had discussion groups with and guided tours inside the school.

nne2018 3tVisits and guided tours were also organized to the Danish students to witness the Israeli wall-settlements-settlers' bypass roads in Bethlehem, inside Dhaisha Refugee camp, the closures and settlements in the old city of Hebron with the Shuhada street and Ibrahimi Mosque (Tombs of the Patriarchs), and inside the old city of Jerusalem.

Briefings were given to the students on the geopolitical situation in Hebron by the TIPH and the life in the refugee camp by Shoruq Center. The Danish students also joined the Marathon in Bethlehem on the 23rd of March, had guided tours into the Church of Nativity, and watched a Dabka Palestinian Folklore Dance and Palestinian Rap performances.

The trip comes as part of an ongoing Exchange Program and partnership between the NNE, the JAI, and DanChurch Aid, following also the Palestinian students and staff visit to the school in November 2017.
