My name is Carmel Salameh, I was one of the lucky youth who got the chance to travel to Britain in 2009. As I was in Winchester with other 6 and our leader Nidal Abuzuluf, we went to schools and Churches in Winchester and some other places, talking to students and people about life In Palestine and the conflict and how it is difficult for us to live a normal life like anybody in this world.
We talked about our problems and difficulties and of course about our dream that Palestine will be free one day.
Every place we went to and the people we met were really kind, they have listened to our stories, they shared their ideas, asked us questions about our country, and they were really helpful. We made a lot of friends there.
As for me, my trip to Britain was really successful, where I worked on delivering a message from my country, and I am happy I did it. I am now more able to speak to people about the situation and things Palestinian people have to deal with everyday.
During my visit, I have seen and learned many things that I have never experienced in my whole life. I have seen a free country, people moving freely from one place and from one country to another. I loved it, and I wished we would live that kind of life in Palestine one day. No fear, restrictions, nothing but peace.
