The GoCY is a youth exchange program among 'North' and 'South' YMCA-YWCA partner movements. It is to Go and See the Y, or Go and See why is this situation like this at that country, and aims at enhancing youths' participation and involvement in promoting peace, justice and reconciliation through youth exchange, intercultural understanding and integration.
GoCY Objectives:
- Provide and exchange knowledge on peace, justice and reconciliation, North-South issues, cultural differences and the situation for youth.
- Empower youth to become skilled young leaders who will promote future exchange and global leadership development efforts in the YWCA-YMCA network.
- Build young volunteers’ competences in partner co-operation, intercultural communication and youth mobilization on global issues.
- Strengthen partnerships through developing a shared vision of how to work towards peace, justice and reconciliation.
- Capacity building of organizations involved in the partnership.
Being united in two world-wide organizations and networks, the partnership is formed naturally. Partner movements are founded on the same missions and vision, and we are all working towards the same long-term goal. The short-term goals vary depending on capacity, focus and the environment of which the organization is working in.
The partnership program lasts for 9 month: one month preparatory course in Norway followed by 8 month at host movement. It is for youth between 22 - 25 years old. It is currently among the:
