JAI Youth for Peace and Development Group

According to our vision of being open to society and responding to the social needs of different groups, we work hand in hand with young people in organizing various activities. The YMCA-YWCA Joint Advocacy Initiative Youth for Peace and Development Group was formed in 2002, open to both genders and all religions, to encourage the Palestinian youth to participate in social development, and promote the concepts of justice, peace, democracy and human rights. The group includes youth in the age range 17-25.

The Group's goals:

  • To include youth volunteers in YMCA-YWCA and JAI activities.
  • To enable youth to share and exchange experiences on both local and international levels.
  • To increase the role of youth in activities locally and internationally.
  • To create young leaders.
  • To enhance the role of youth in society.
  • To spread the concepts of democracy, peace and justice among youth.
  • To encourage the concept of volunteering among youth.

Youth activities through and with the EJ YMCA and YWCA:

  • Participating in local and international youth events and camps.
  • Receiving international groups and volunteers.
  • Film showings, trips and advocacy activities related to Palestinian issues.
  • Lectures and conferences related to youth issues.
  • Community service activities.
  • Human rights and democracy courses.
  • Sporting activities.

"As Palestinian youth, we declare our insistence that we will continue with life, believing in a better future. It is our belief that our power comes from belonging to our society and our feeling of responsibility towards what is going on around us. This makes us work together in facing our problems and difficulties with open hearts and strong aspirations. Believing in dialogue, equality and freedom we extend our hands to youth all around the world, so together we can ease burdens, build bridges of friendship and love in order to create a better world with justice and peace."
